Fun Holiday Activities

Make a brochure of somewhere you would like to go!  This can be anywhere in the world, or even in the Universe!  Find out about the place by looking in books from the library and then check out brochures to get more ideas of what to include.  Now have a go at making your own.

Make a Pizza

You will need

500g bread flour

1 sachet of quick activating yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

250ml warm water

What to do

Mix the ingredients together in a bowl.

Knead the bread mix for 10 to 15 minutes on a clean, floured work surface.

Roll the dough so it is thin and flat to make one big pizza and put in a greased baking tray.

Put a tablespoon of tomato puree on top and spread out.

Chop up mushrooms, onions and green pepper and put on top of the tomato puree.

Sprinkle on lots of grated cheese.

Cook in a hot oven (200 C) for 15 minutes.

Eat with a tasty salad.

Make a diorama

This is a snapshot of part of a story and can be made inside a large cardboard box.  Choose a favourite book to read then decide how you can make a scene from that story in the box.  Use the finished scene to retell the story.

Make a prop box

Collect together  a box full of props.  These can be used to retell a story or to tell your own made up story:

hats, scarves, wigs, gloves, mirror, comb, sunglasses, tickets, shell, puppet, large pieces of coloured fabric, old camera/ phone, keys, shoes etc.

You could make your own book of the story.

Everyday things

Keep a brief diary

Make a scrapbook and add captions

Make a photograph album and add captions

Share a good book

Play a board game or a card game

Make up a new board game

When your mum or dad came to share you made a game together.  Why not make another to help you find the total of some coins or to help you learn all the number bonds to 20 eg 5+7=12

Tidy your bedroom

Sort out all of you toys, books and games.

Label your toy boxes.

Play a card game

Cut up an old cereal box into 30 cards.  Choose 15 tricky number bonds eg 6+2   and write one on each card.  On the other 15 cards write the matching answer.  Now play a pairs game.

Have fun!
